North Salida contains the large Salida passenger terminal as well as a long block of retail business and hotel locations. The Tipton Chair Company and Hillhouse Manufacturing are major shippers. Golden Flame Fuel Company also accounts for many incoming shipments of coal and heating fuel. The largest passenger station on the D&SW is also located in North Salida.
